Food Pairing - Grapes
Katie and I stumbled into this pairing by accident — we’d been snacking on grapes with Ana earlier that night. During the tasting, Katie noticed that the sweetness of the grapes accentuated the bourbon’s lighter notes and gave it a dry white wine character. It was unexpected but worked beautifully, softening the spice and highlighting the bourbon’s delicate balance.
Nav and Katie’s Thoughts
When I told Katie that Green River Wheated recently won “World’s Best Bourbon” at the 2025 New York World Spirits Competition, we both raised an eyebrow — but after spending time with it, we could see why it earned that title. This bourbon is incredibly approachable. For someone new to wheated bourbons, it’s an easy, welcoming pour — smooth, friendly, and balanced. But if you’ve been drinking bourbon for a while, there’s enough quiet complexity here to keep you engaged. The longer it sits in the glass, the more the gentle fruit and grain notes open up.
