Food Pairing – Charcuterie Board

• Katie and I went simple with this one. A charcuterie board just made sense. The dried fruit and fig notes in the whiskey played really well with cured meats, and the rye spice and oak cut through the richness of the cheese. It wasn’t about finding a perfect match — it was more about letting the whiskey do its thing alongside something you’d actually snack on while sipping.

Nav and Katie’s Thoughts

• I picked up this 11-year rye after tasting it at Belle’s Lounge at Valentine Distilling, and I remember thinking it tasted exactly like an Old Fashioned. Revisiting it for the Advent Calendar, Katie and I both agreed — it still drinks that way. It has those familiar cherry, spice, and oak notes, just without the extra sugar. It’s basically an Old Fashioned with fewer calories, and overall, we both really enjoyed the pour.
