Tasting Notes

  • Nose – Maple syrup, herbal, tobacco

  • Palate – Burnt caramel, oak, rye spice

  • Finish – Long, warming, earthy, clove

Food Pairing – Smoked Brisket

  • Katie and I also tried this with smoked brisket, and it was a great fit. The smoke and richness of the brisket played right into the earthy, tobacco notes, while the fat helped tame the rye spice and oak. That touch of sweetness from the bark lined up nicely with the maple and burnt caramel on the palate, and the long, warming finish just lingered in the best way. This is one of those pairings where the food doesn’t compete—it just makes the pour even better.

Nav and Katie’s Thoughts

  • Four Roses has easily become one of my favorite distilleries, and bottles like this are a big reason why. For a 15-year bourbon, this one is incredibly balanced while still bringing a ton of complexity. It’s sweet, it’s spicy, it lingers, but it never feels overwhelming or heavy. Everything just works together really well. At this point, you can pretty much count me in for whatever Four Roses releases next—they’ve been putting out some fantastic bottles lately. And yes… Katie enjoyed this one too.
