Tasting Notes

  • Nose – A mix of leather and oak, rounded out by a soft, yeasty bread-dough note.

  • Palate – Green apple, black pepper, nutmeg spice.

  • Finish – A warm, lightly sweet finish that trails off into classic rye spice.

Food Pairing – Broccoli Cheddar Soup

  • We didn’t plan for this pairing, but it ended up being one of those comforting, cold-weather combinations that just makes sense. The soup’s creamy cheddar mellowed the rye’s spice, and every sip brought out more warmth and richness. But the real surprise was how the rye’s green apple note lifted the bite — it added a brightness that kept the pairing from feeling too heavy and made the flavors feel connected.

Nav and Katie’s Thoughts

  • If you’re already into rye, this is an easy pour to love — it’s got that warm spice and depth you expect from an 11-year bottle. But even if you’re more of a bourbon drinker, this is one of the friendlier ryes out there. It’s balanced, approachable, and never tries to overpower you. With a little time in the glass, the peppery note softens and you start getting more of the fruit and oak notes, giving the pour a smooth, well-rounded feel.
